Cassius Marcellus Coolidge (18 settembre 1844 – 13 gennaio 1934) è stato un pittore statunitense, principalmente conosciuto per una serie di diciotto dipinti raffiguranti cani che giocano a poker.

Figlio di agricoltori del nord di New York, Coolidge non segue corsi di pittura, ma a vent'anni lavora come disegnatore di fumetti per il giornale locale.

Dogs Playing Poker

Nel 1903 Coolidge stipula un contratto con la società pubblicitaria Brown & Bigelow per realizzare sedici dipinti a olio che raffigurano cani in pose umane. Nove di questi rappresentano cani che giocano a poker. Il 15 febbraio 2005, due dei suoi dipinti, A Bold Bluff e Waterloo, furono venduti per 590.400 dollari.[1]
