Mohammad Ghani Hikmat (arabe : محمد غني حكمت) est un sculpteur irakien né le 20 avril 1929 à Bagdad, Irak et décédé le 12 septembre 2011 [1] à Amman, Jordanie.

Vie et carrière

Il est diplômé de l'Institut des Beaux-Art d'rak ainsi que de l'Académie des Beaux-Arts de Rome.

Ses immenses statues en bronze se trouvant à Bagdad s'inspirent des contes des Milles et une Nuit.

Son oeuvre couvre également des sculptures en bois.

Vie privée

Il a été marié à Gaya Al-Rahal et a eu deux enfants : Hajer Mohammed et Yasir Mohammed.

Il a fini les Epées de Qadisisiya (Arc de la victoire) - Parc Zawiaz à Bagdad -, commencé par Khaled Al-Rahal en 1987 dont Mohammed Ghani Hikmat était l'assistant lors du projet et ami également, symbolisant la puissance irakienne lors de la guerre Irak-Iran.

Mohammad Ghani Hikmat (April 20, 1929 – September 12, 2011) (Arabic: محمد غني حكمت) was an Iraqi sculptor and artist credited with creating some of Baghdad's highest-profile sculptures and monuments and was known as the "sheik of sculptors".[1] He is also known as an early member of Iraq's first 20th-century art groups, including Al-Ruwad (the Pioneers) and The Baghdad Modern Art Group; two groups that helped to bridge the gap between tradition and modern art. He was also instrumental in recovering many of Iraq's missing artworks, which were looted following the 2003 invasion.
