Franciscus Gysbrechts o Gijsbrechts (Anversa, 1649 – dopo il 1676) è stato un pittore fiammingo, attivo nella seconda metà del XVII secolo e noto per il suo "trompe l'oeil" e nature morte, in particolare di vanitas.

Biografia

Franciscus era il figlio del pittore Cornelis Norbertus Gysbrechts e Anna Moons.[1] Fu battezzato 25 febbraio 1649 a Saint-Jacques parrocchia di Anversa. Franciscus Gijsbrechts fu attivo a Leida nel 1674. Questo legame con la corte è evidente dal fatto che un lavoro del 1672 era già presente nella collezione danese prima 1689.[1]

Nel 1676, entra a far parte della Gilda San Luca ad Anversa[1] come wijnmeester, vale a dire, come un genitore di un membro esistente. È possibile che sia stato assistente di suo padre presunto Cornelis Norbert Gijsbrechts danese di Copenaghen. Si hanno poche informazioni su di lui oppure se ci sono, sono molto vaghe.[1]

Franciscus Gijsbrechts (auch Gysbrechts; getauft am 25. Februar 1649; † nach 1676) war ein flämischer Maler von Stillleben, vor allem Vanitas-Stillleben und Trompe-l’œils. Er arbeitete in der zweiten Hälfte des siebzehnten Jahrhunderts in den spanischen Niederlanden, Dänemark und Holland. Wie sein Vater, spezialisierte er sich auf Trompe-l’œil, ein Genre, das mit illusionistischen Mitteln den Anschein erzeugt, dass es sich bei der gemalten, zweidimensionalen Komposition tatsächlich um ein dreidimensionales, reales Objekt handelt.[1]

Franciscus Gijsbrechts (1649, Antwerp – after 1677), was a Flemish painter of still lifes specialised in vanitas still lifes and trompe-l'œil paintings. He worked in the second half of the seventeenth century in the Spanish Netherlands, Denmark and the Dutch Republic. Like his father, he painted trompe-l'œil still lifes, a still life genre that uses illusionistic means to create the appearance that the painted, two-dimensional composition is actually a three-dimensional, real object.[1]
