Biografia
Introdusse Marcel Proust e Reynaldo Hahn nei salotti parigini dell'aristocrazia.[2] Lei stessa teneva un salone dove riceveva l'alta società nel suo hôtel particulier in rue de Monceau.
La Lemaire espose le sue opere al Palace of Fine Arts e al Woman's Building alla Fiera Colombiana di Chicago del 1893 a Chicago, Illinois.[3]
George Painter dichiarò nel suo libro, Marcel Proust, che lei era uno dei modelli di Madame Verdurin ne Alla ricerca del tempo perduto di Proust.

Madeleine Jeanne Lemaire (* 1845 in Les Arcs-Sainte-Roseline im Département Var als Madeleine Jeanne Coll oder Colle; † 8. April 1928 in Paris)[1] war eine französische Malerin, Grafikerin und Salonnière. Die Künstlerin schuf Gemälde im Stil der Académie des Beaux-Arts und ist besonders für ihr Rosenstillleben bekannt. In dem von ihr geführten literarischen Salon verkehrten namhafte Adlige, Politiker und Künstler. Zu ihnen gehörte der Schriftsteller Marcel Proust, dessen Buch Les plaisirs et les jours sie illustrierte und der sie als Vorbild für eine seiner Romanfiguren wählte.[en] Madeleine Lemaire
