Pierre Jean Baptiste Louis Dumont (Parigi, 29 marzo 1884[1] – Parigi, 8 aprile 1936[2]) è stato un pittore francese, appartenente alla Scuola di Rouen.

Biografia

Pierre Dumont fu uno degli allievi di Joseph Delattre. Dumont ha fondato il Gruppo XXX (gruppo trenta) nel 1907 e, insieme a Robert Antoine Pinchon, Yvonne Barbier, e Eugène Tirvert, fondò la Société Normande de Peinture Moderne nel 1909.

Dal 1910-1916 Dumont visse a Le Bateau-Lavoir, diventando amico di Juan Gris, Max Jacob e Guillaume Apollinaire[3].

Successivamente cambiò il suo stile, avvicinandosi al Cubismo e giocò un ruolo fondamentale nell'organizzazione del Salon de la Section d'Or alla Galerie La Boétie a Parigi, nell'ottobre 1912[4][5][6].

Pierre Jean Baptiste Louis Dumont (29 March 1884, in 5th arrondissement, Paris[1] – 8 April 1936, in Paris[2]) more commonly known as Pierre Dumont, was a French painter of the Rouen School. He was schooled at the Lycée Pierre-Corneille and subsequently studied painting with Joseph Delattre. Dumont founded the Groupe des XXX (1907), and along with Robert Antoine Pinchon, Yvonne Barbier, and Eugène Tirvert founded the Société Normande de Peinture Moderne (1909). From 1910 to 1916[3] Dumont lived at the Le Bateau-Lavoir becoming friends with Juan Gris, Max Jacob and Guillaume Apollinaire. He turned towards Cubism during this period and played a crucial role in the organization of the Salon de la Section d'Or at the Galerie La Boétie in Paris, October 1912.[4][5][6]
