Description


The cubic museum building with 5000 m2 of display space was designed by Berlin architects Hascher and Jehle. During the day it looks like a glass cube, and at nights the interior lighted limestone walls become visible.


Collection


The Kunstmuseum Stuttgart museum's collection comes from the previous "Galerie der Stadt Stuttgart". The city's collection goes back to a gift from the Marchese Silvio della Valle di Casanova in 1924.

It contains one of the most important collections of the work of Otto Dix and also works from Willi Baumeister, Adolf Hölzel, Dieter Roth, and others.

Das Kunstmuseum Stuttgart ist ein Museum für Bildende Kunst in Stuttgart. Es steht anstelle des 1963 abgebrochenen Kronprinzenpalais und wurde im März 2005 als Nachfolgeinstitution der Galerie der Stadt Stuttgart eröffnet. Das am Schloßplatz und der Königstraße gelegene Museum zeigt ausgewählte Werke der städtischen Sammlung vom 19. Jahrhundert bis zur aktuellen zeitgenössischen Kunst. Daneben werden thematische oder monografische Sonderschauen präsentiert. 2022 wurde das Museum von Kunstkritikern der deutschen Sektion des internationalen Kunstkritikerverbandes (AICA) zum Museum des Jahres 2021 gewählt.[1]

Le Kunstmuseum Stuttgart (« musée d'art de Stuttgart » en allemand), situé sur la Kleiner Schloßplatz et ouvert depuis le 5 mars 2005, succède au musée municipal de Stuttgart, la Galerie der Stadt. Avec un total de 330 000 visiteurs accueillis au cours de sa 1re année d'exploitation, il dépasse même le nombre d'entrées de la Staatsgalerie[1]. Sa situation dans la zone piétonne de la Königstraße et sa spectaculaire architecture, un cube de verre qui enveloppe un autre cube en travertin, contribuent aussi à son succès.

Художественный музей Штутгарта[2] (нем. Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, ранее нем. Galerie der Stadt Stuttgart) — художественный музей в городе Штутгарт (земля Баден-Вюртемберг), открытый в марте 2005 года и расположенный на площади Шлоссплатц — стал преемником Городской галереи искусства Штутгарта; коллекция включает в себя как работы, созданные в XIX веке, так и произведения современного искусства. Известен собранием работ художника Отто Дикса, созданным бывшим директором Ойгеном Койерлебером.
