Jesus and the Samaritan Woman is a 1742 painting by Jean-François de Troy of the Samaritan woman at the well. It is one of a series of six paintings by the artist for Pierre Guérin de Tencin and his archepiscopal palace at Lyon - the others were The Death of Lucretia, The Death of Cleopatra, The Judgement of Solomon, The Idolatry of Solomon and The Woman Caught in Adultery. It is now at the Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon.[1]

Jésus et la Samaritaine est un tableau de Jean-François de Troy (1679-1752) peint en 1742, illustrant le chapitre IV, verset 5 à 30 de l'Évangile selon saint Jean. Il relate le passage où le Christ engage une conversation avec une Samaritaine en lui demandant de l’eau, et où ses disciples s’indignent qu’il puisse parler avec une femme pécheresse, les juifs et les Samaritains n’ayant pas de relation entre eux. Il est exposé au musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon. Il appartient à la série de six tableaux peint par J.-F. de Troy pour le cardinal de Tencin destiné à décorer le palais archiépiscopal de Lyon en 1742 : La Mort de Lucrèce, La Mort de Cléopâtre, Le Jugement de Salomon, L’idolâtrie de Salomon et La Femme adultère.
