La Justificación de León III, también conocida como El juramento de León III es una pintura del taller del artista renacentista italiano Rafael. La pintura forma parte del encargo hecho a Rafael para que decorara las habitaciones que hoy son conocidas como Stanze di Raffaello, en el Palacio Apostólico en el Vaticano. Se ubica en la habitación que recibe el nombre de El incendio del Borgo, la Stanza dell'incendio del Borgo.

En el fresco, el papa León III es visto durante el juicio el 23 de diciembre de 800 durante el cual tuvo que enfrentarse con los sobrinos de su predecesor, el papa Adriano I, que le habían acusado de mala conducta. Los obispos unidos en asamblea declararon que no podían juzgar al papa, tras lo cual éste prestó un juramento por propia voluntad.

[en] The Oath of Leo III

The Oath of Leo III is a painting by the workshop of the Italian renaissance artist Raphael. The painting was part of Raphael's commission to decorate the rooms that are now known as the Stanze di Raffaello, in the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican. It is located in the room that was named after The Fire in the Borgo, the Stanza dell'incendio del Borgo. In the fresco, Pope Leo III is seen during the trial on December 23 AD 800 during which he was brought face to face with the nephews of his predecessor Pope Hadrian I, who had accused him of misconduct. The assembled bishops declared that they could not judge the pope, after which Leo took an oath of purgation of his own free will.[1]
