Michel Tapié de Céleyran (Château de Mauriac, Tarn, 26 de febrero de 1909 - París, 30 de julio de 1987) fue un crítico de arte francés que trabajó también en la organización de exposiciones internacionales.

Como crítico teórico acuñó el concepto de arte informal en su libro titulado Art autre.

Entre los artistas referentes del Arte Informal encontramos a Enrico Donati, Lucio Fontana, Agenore Fabbri, Alberto Burri, Asger Jorn, Emil Schumacher, Kazuo Shiraga, Antoni Tàpies, Pablo Serrano y Jiro Yoshihara.

Michel Tapié (full name: Michel Tapié de Céleyran; 26 February 1909 – 30 July 1987) was a French art critic, curator, and collector. He was an early and influential theorist and practitioner of "tachisme", a French style of abstract painting popular in the 1940s and 1950s which is regarded as a European version of abstract expressionism.[1] Tapié was a founder member of the Compagnie de l'Art Brut with Dubuffet and Breton In 1948, as well he managed the Foyer De l'Art Brut at the Galerie René Drouin.Tapié was from an aristocratic French family and was a second cousin once removed of the painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. The painter's mother Adèle Tapié de Celeyran was Tapié's great-aunt.

Il fut aussi musicien, peintre, sculpteur, organisateur d'expositions et théoricien de l'art avec une influence internationale. Il est à l'origine de la formule « art informel », qui fut employée dans son ouvrage le plus connu, Un art autre, publié en 1952.
