Die Statuette des Iddin-ilum ist eine 41,5 cm hohe Statuette aus Steatit. Sie wurde im frühen 21. Jahrhundert v. Chr. gefertigt und bei französischen Ausgrabungen unter Leitung von André Parrot in Mari (Tell Hariri) im Winter 1936/37 im Palast gefunden. Heute ist sie im Louvre in Paris ausgestellt (Inventarnr.: AO 19486).

Es handelt sich um eine Beterstatuette, die abgesehen von einem abgebrochenen Arm und dem Kopf weitgehend erhalten ist. Sie zeigt einen stehenden Mann in einem langen Gewand. In dessen unteren Bereich ist eine akkadische Inschrift eingeritzt. Demnach wurde diese Statuette der Liebes- und Kriegsgöttin Inanna/Ištar geweiht. Als ihr Stifter wird Iddin-ilum genannt, ein šakkanakku (Statthalter) von Mari.

The Statue of Iddi-Ilum is a 21st-century BCE statue of the praying figure of Iddi-ilum (𒄿𒋾𒀭, i-ti-ilum), the military governor, or Shakkanakku, of the ancient city-state of Mari in eastern Syria. The headless statue was discovered at the Royal Palace of Mari during excavations directed by French archaeologist André Parrot. The statue was made of soapstone and bears an inscription identifying the figure and dedicating it to the goddess Ishtar or Inanna. The statue is now displayed at the Musée du Louvre in Paris.[1] He was contemporary of the Third Dynasty of Ur, and probably their vassal.[2]
