Statue of Subhas Chandra Bose is a 28 feet tall[1] black granite statue of Indian leader Subhas Chandra Bose.[2] It is placed under the Canopy behind India Gate in Delhi.[3] Andhra Pradesh based and Delhi headquartered leading granite company Granite Studio India (Website) was selected to consult, research and procure the record weighed and sized monolithic fine black granite block.[4]Mysuru-based sculptor Arun Yogiraj is the sculptor and Naresh Kumawat is the modeller and artist. [1][5]

Design and construction



Design


Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the construction of Statue of Subhas Chandra Bose in 2021.[2] He said that the statue would be installed in the canopy of India Gate to mark 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mohotsav', commemorating 75 years of independence as well as Bose's 125th birth anniversary.[5][6]


Construction


A large black granite stone was selected for the statue and brought from Telangana to Delhi by Delhi and Andhra Pradesh granite manufacturer company Granite Studio India(website) and its promoters Rajat Mehta and Rahul Mehta. [7] The statue was designed by a team under the Ministry of Culture led by National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) Director-General Advaita Gadanayak and Sculptor Naresh Kumawat.[1]


Inauguration


On 8 September 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose near India Gate in New Delhi.
