Biografie
Fanny Rabinovich, Tochter einer jüdischen Theaterschauspielerfamilie und Schwester von Malkah Rabell, kam 1929 nach Paris und begann hier ihre künstlerische Ausbildung. 1938 kam sie nach Mexiko und nahm dort an der Escuela Nocturna para Trabajadores Grafik- und Bildhauerkurse. Ab 1942 studierte sie an der Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado „La Esmeralda“. Sie lernte bei José Chávez Morado, Feliciano Peña und zählte neben Arturo García Bustos, Guillermo Monroy und Arturo Estrada zu den Schülern Frida Kahlos, die als „Los Fridos“ bekannt wurden. Zudem assistierte sie David Alfaro Siqueiros und später auch Diego Rivera bei dessen Murales im Palacio Nacional. 1945 gab sie in der Liga Popular Israelita ihre erste Einzelausstellung.[1] 1948 war sie unter den Gründungsmitgliedern der Sociedad para el Impulso de las Artes Plásticas, 1952 unter den Gründern der Frente Nacional de Artes Plásticas (FNAP) und von 1949 bis 1961 Mitglied der Taller de Gráfica Popular. Zu ihren Arbeiten gehören Murales am israelitischen Sportzentrum in der mexikanischen Hauptstadt und im Museo Nacional de Antropología in Mexiko-Stadt.[2]

Fanny Rabel (August 27, 1922 in Poland – November 25, 2008 in Mexico City), born Fanny Rabinovich, was a Polish-born Mexican artist who is considered to be the first modern female muralist and one of the youngest associated with the Mexican muralism of the early to mid 20th century. She and her family arrived to Mexico in 1938 from Europe and she studied art at the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado "La Esmeralda", where she met and became friends with Frida Kahlo. She became the only female member of “Los Fridos” a group of students under Kahlo’s tutelage. She also worked as an assistant and apprentice to Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros, painting a number of murals of her own during her career. The most significant of these is "Ronda en el tiempo" at the Museo Nacional de Antropología in Mexico City. She also created canvases and other works, with children often featured in her work, and was one of the first of her generation to work with ecological themes in a series of works begun in 1979.

Fanny Rabel, nacida Fanny Rabinovich Duval (Lublin, Polonia, 27 de agosto de 1922 – Ciudad de México, México, 25 de noviembre de 2008), fue una destacada artista mexicana de origen polaco, que realizó una amplia obra artística en los campos de la pintura mural, de caballete, grabado y escenografía. Discípula de Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera y David Alfaro Siqueiros, Rabel comenzó su carrera en el estilo realista de la Escuela Mexicana de Pintura y más adelante encontró su propio estilo expresivo y su propia temática, con una fuerte inclinación a la crítica social, incluyendo la situación social de las mujeres. Por su ubicación, en el área educativa del Museo Nacional de Antropología en la Ciudad de México, uno de sus murales más conocidos es Ronda en el Tiempo (1964-1965).[1]
