Dia:Beacon, Riggio Galleries est un musée d'art contemporain américain situé à Beacon dans l'État de New York.

Histoire

Créé par la Dia Art Foundation en collaboration avec l'artiste Robert Irwin, le musée a ouvert ses portes en 2003[1]. Il est installé dans une ancienne usine d'impression construite en 1929 sur les rives de l'Hudson, à une centaine de kilomètres au nord de la ville de New York. Il présente une collection permanente et des expositions temporaires sur une surface de 22 000 m².

Collection

La collection permanente est pour l'essentiel constituée d'œuvres minimalistes et conceptuelles des années 1960 aux années 1990. Elles sont exposées dans des salles dédiées chacune à un artiste et adaptées aux œuvres présentées. C'est notamment le cas de la série Shadows d'Andy Warhol, de la série "monuments" for V. Tatlin de Dan Flavin, des sculptures monumentales Torqued Ellipses de Richard Serra ou de North, East, South, West de Michael Heizer. La collection du musée comprend également des œuvres de Joseph Beuys, Louise Bourgeois, John Chamberlain, Hanne Darboven, Walter De Maria, Donald Judd, On Kawara, Imi Knoebel, Louise Lawler, Sol LeWitt, Agnes Martin, Bruce Nauman, Max Neuhaus, Blinky Palermo, Gerhard Richter, Robert Ryman, Fred Sandback (en), Robert Smithson, Cy Twombly, Lawrence Weiner.

Dia:Beacon (auch als Riggio Galleries, National Biscuit Company Carton Making and Printing Plant, The Biscuit, Nabisco Carton Making and Printing Plant oder Dia Center for the Arts bekannt) ist ein Kunstmuseum am Hudson River in Beacon im US-Bundesstaat New York. Zu den dort neben wechselnden Ausstellungen dauerhaft von der Dia Art Foundation gezeigten Werken zeitgenössischer Kunst zählen Skulpturen von Richard Serra, Installationen von Joseph Beuys und Dan Flavin sowie Gemälde von Andy Warhol.

Dia Beacon is the museum for the Dia Art Foundation's collection of art from the 1960s to the present and is one of the 11 locations and sites they manage. The museum, which opened in 2003, is situated on the banks of the Hudson River in Beacon, New York. Dia Beacon's facility, the Riggio Galleries, is a former Nabisco box-printing facility that was renovated by Dia with artist Robert Irwin and architects Alan Koch, Lyn Rice, Galia Solomonoff, and Linda Taalman, then of OpenOffice. Along with Dia's permanent collection, Dia Beacon also presents temporary exhibitions, as well as public programs designed to complement the collection and exhibitions, including monthly Gallery Talks, Merce Cunningham Dance Company Events, Community Free Days for neighboring counties, and an education program that serves area students at all levels. With 160,000 square feet (15,000 m2),[2] it is one of the largest exhibition spaces in the country for modern and contemporary art.
