Storia e descrizione

Il palazzo, che precedentemente era la residenza del conte Johan Maurits van Nassau-Siegen, ora ospita una vasta collezione d'arte che comprende dipinti dei più famosi pittori olandesi come Johannes Vermeer, Rembrandt van Rijn, Jan Steen, Paulus Potter e Frans Hals, oltre a opere del pittore tedesco Hans Holbein il Giovane.

Il palazzo è stato progettato dagli architetti Jacob van Campen e Pieter Post nel XVII secolo per la famiglia reale dei Paesi Bassi.

Il Mauritshuis è stato un museo statale fino al 1995, quando è stato privatizzato. La fondazione da quel momento realizzata si prende cura sia del palazzo sia della collezione in esso contenuta, che le è stata affidata con la formula del prestito a lunga scadenza. Anche il palazzo, che resta di proprietà statale, è stato preso in affitto dalla fondazione museale. La Mauritshuis è uno dei più importanti musei olandesi e si propone di mantenere intatta la propria fama. Il museo collabora regolarmente con i più importanti musei di altri paesi.

Il 27 giugno 2014, dopo due anni di restauro e ampliamento, col recupero edilizio dei sotterranei realizzato dallo studio d'architettura di Hans van Heeswijk, il Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis riapre al pubblico con un'estensione raddoppiata[1].

Das Mauritshuis ist ein von 1633 bis 1644 in Den Haag,[1] Niederlande, errichtetes Adelspalais und seit 1822 ein Museum, das die Königliche Gemäldegalerie beherbergt. Die Sammlung nord- und südniederländischer Meisterwerke aus dem 17. Jahrhundert ist weltweit einzigartig. Eines der berühmtesten dort ausgestellten Gemälde ist Das Mädchen mit dem Perlenohrgehänge von Jan Vermeer.

The museum houses the Royal Cabinet of Paintings which consists of 854 objects, mostly Dutch Golden Age paintings. The collection contains works by Johannes Vermeer, Rembrandt van Rijn, Jan Steen, Paulus Potter, Frans Hals, Jacob van Ruisdael, Hans Holbein the Younger, and others. Originally, the 17th century building was the residence of count John Maurice of Nassau. It is now the property of the government of the Netherlands and is listed in the top 100 Dutch heritage sites.

La Mauritshuis (littéralement la « Maison de Maurice » en néerlandais), officiellement dénommée Cabinet royal de peintures (Koninklijk Kabinet van Schilderijen), est un musée néerlandais situé à La Haye, principalement consacré à l'art du XVIIe siècle, le siècle d'or des Pays-Bas[1]. En 2019, il attire 481 667 visiteurs[2]. Le bâtiment datant de 1644, construit par les architectes renommés Jacob van Campen et Pieter Post, est à l'origine la résidence du comte et gouverneur général Jean-Maurice de Nassau-Siegen. Il appartient aujourd'hui à l'État néerlandais et est répertorié dans le classement des 100 plus beaux bâtiments historiques du pays.
